Food Allergies & Food Sensitivity 

Food allergies also called food hypersensitivity is an unpleasant or dangerous immune system reaction after a certain food is eaten. Millions of people in the united states suffer with food allergies everyday and the cause is unknown. Usually symptoms are pretty self diagnosable including vomiting, rash, abdominal pain, diarrhea and tingling and itching in the mouth. If you are a person that suffers from food allergies the only way to avoid a reaction is to avoid allergy causing foods. You will have to adjust your diet and lifestyle to adhere to these changes so you wont have any food allergy outbreaks. When you are having an allergy to a food you will know within a few minutes to a few hours after eating the offending food. Food allergies are more common in babies and children but can appear at any age. It is even possible to suddenly develop an allergy to a food you have eaten for years.

The following foods account for 90 percent of all reactions: Eggs, milk, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish, wheat, and soy. A food allergy will cause some sort of reaction every time that food is eaten. Symptoms vary and it is a common question amongst those affected by food allergies; is this condition permanent? There really isn’t a clear answer because some allergies disappear over time and some are lifelong.

If you had a bad allergy to food you should see a doctor for evaluation. There are currently no cures for food allergies and available treatments only ease the symptoms. There are drugs or treatments that cure food allergies. If you want to manage your food allergies you should make sure to read food labels carefully and avoid allergic foods. Because some allergies can be out grown you should periodically be retested to see whether you are still allergic.
